Leslie Fanger, RLA, LEED AP Receives Accreditation from the Congress for New Urbanism January 26, 2010
Leslie Fanger, RLA, LEED AP, a BSC Senior Landscape Architect, recently received accreditation from the Congress for New Urbanism (CNU). CNU seeks to encourage and elevate the practice of new urbanism principals by developing premier standards related to the design of sustainable urban environments. The accreditation program recognizes individuals who demonstrate professional excellence in the New Urbanist movement.
As a CNU-accredited professional, Leslie will seek to promote the goals of the CNU Charter by advocating for the restructuring of public policy and development practice to support the following principals:
+ Neighborhoods should be diverse in use and population
+ Communities should be designed for the pedestrian and transit as well as the car
+ Cities and towns should be shaped by physically defined and universally accessible public spaces and community institutions
+ Urban places should be framed by architecture and landscape design that celebrates local history, climate, ecology, and building practice
