Designing Outdoor Spaces That Inspire, Sustain & Endure — Briscoe School Reimagined

At BSC, we shape environments that connect communities.

Our landscape architects played a vital role in reimagining the historic Briscoe School into Beverly Village for Living & the Arts — now home to 85 affordable senior apartments, six artist live/work studios, and vibrant community amenities.

Our signature approach — artistry balanced with pragmatism — is embedded throughout the site:

  • Restoring history, creating connections: The planned revitalization of the turf bowl, adjacent to Beverly Village’s Arts entrance will serve as a central green, framed by ADA-compliant picnic tables, benches, and bike racks — blending heritage with today’s needs.
  • Placemaking and walkability: The Dining Terrace, Residents Lawn & Victory Garden become desirable amenities connected by concrete and stamped concrete walkways paired with stone dust paths ensure accessibility and clear movement across the 6.5-acre site.
  • Green infrastructure: Native plantings, evergreen buffers, and shaded lawn areas mitigate heat, manage stormwater, and mitigate the 234-space parking lot.
  • Community wellness amenities: A dog park, raised-bed Victory Garden with compost bins, and outdoor seating throughout the site areas foster wellness, sustainability, and social interaction.
  • Robust site details: Segmental block walls, cedar screen fencing, vinyl fencing, and precast seatwalls were chosen for long-lasting beauty and function.

Landscape architecture isn’t just about aesthetics — it’s about enhancing wellness, accessibility, sustainability, and social cohesion. At Briscoe, our role helped transform a beloved school into a lasting community asset.

At BSC, we shape spaces that last — spaces that are beautiful, functional, and meaningful.

Congratulations to Harborlight Homes, Beacon Communities, Keith Construction, SV Design, and all partners for making this bold adaptive reuse possible.
