Cambridge Commercial Triangle Neighborhood Resilience Plan
BSC Group was chosen by The Hanover Company to provide the planning and adaptation services related to Triangle Neighborhood Initiative (TNI) in Cambridge, MA.
The team was tasked with developing a comprehensive, neighborhood-level plan that addressed projected impacts due to flooding, heat, extreme weather, drought, and other hazards. The plan included measures that could be implemented both in the present and in the future.
In order to meet the resiliency, sustainability, and community well-being initiatives, local public engagement played a crucial role within the project. BSC’s team led stakeholder meetings that discussed climate preparedness and resilience. The Triangle Neighborhood Initiative Preparedness and Resilience Plan will focus on neighborhood-level preparedness and resilience concepts with strategies being categorized according to Prepared Community, Adapted Buildings, Resilient Infrastructure, and Resilient Ecosystems.
Design features were created to incorporate sustainability and resilience, including solar-ready roofs, tree canopy increase, encouragement of alternative transportation such as bike racks and lanes, increase of flood-storage and stormwater infiltration, as well as a Site Action Plan including flood protection measures.
