A comprehensive site master planning process resulted in the adoption of a mixed-use vision for the redevelopment of the Hingham Shipyard, involving residential, commercial, and retail properties. The new Hingham Shipyard consists of 479 residential units and 240,000 sf of retail space, including a high-end cinema complex, health club, and restaurants. With an industrial past, the Hingham Shipyard had an aging infrastructure that required replacement to support its proposed new uses. BSC assisted the project clients in developing conceptual and preliminary site plans for a development program and provided a major survey of existing utilities and all new replacement systems were designed. BSC also performed a traffic impact analysis as part of the initial planning and permitting effort, using Synchro and Simtraffic software to model anticipated scenarios.
