Pine Orchard Yacht & Country Club Golf Course Improvements

At Pine Orchard Yacht & Country Club, the first and ninth fairways were vulnerable to saltwater flooding from Long Island Sound, damaging turf and disrupting play for weeks after major tides and storms. Working with golf course landscape architect Tim Gerrish, BSC developed improvements to increase the course’s resilience and playability by elevating the fairways and restoring a historic tidal wetland connection to Long Island Sound.

The project included four new golf cart bridges, strategic reuse of on-site material to raise saturated areas, detailed topographic surveying, and permitting through CT DEEP’s Office of Long Island Sound. Since completion, the raised fairways have remained protected from high tides and storm events, reducing maintenance and turf replacement while allowing the course to maintain normal operations after severe weather. The restored tidal area also received highly positive feedback from CT DEEP.
