Large-Scale Photovoltaic Solar Development
BSC provided integrated civil engineering, ecological, land surveying, and environmental engineering services to support the design and permitting of a large-scale, ground-mounted solar photovoltaic system for NextGrid, Inc. Our team performed on-site soil testing; developed layout, grading, and utility designs; conducted stormwater analysis; and prepared the accompanying design documentation and reports. BSC also supported the preparation of a Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment, an ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey Plan, and a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), and coordinated with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) to obtain a Construction General Permit.
The project transformed a former wood waste processing facility into a site that generates renewable energy. Pavement and other impervious surfaces were removed and the site was stabilized with vegetation, improving both the site’s appearance and ecological function. New stormwater management facilities provide peak attenuation of stormwater runoff, water quality treatment and groundwater recharge. The stormwater management design for the site complies fully with the requirements of MassDEP and the Town of Brewster.
