Main Street Complete Streets Design
The Connecticut Metropolitan Council of Governments (MetroCOG) in partnership with the Town of Stratford has selected BSC to design a variety of improvements within Stratford Center along a ¾ mile segment of Main Street (Route 113). BSC’s design will include a variety of roadway intersection improvements, wide multi-use walkways, lighting, and other means of ensuring safe commuting.
The significance of this project is its’ purpose and need to bring all available modes of modern-day transportation to, and from, the Metro-North Stratford Rail station. “Complete streets” development will recognize and support the Town’s desire to promote economic activity in the Stratford Rail station area. Accordingly, the project plan will compile a blend of bicycle routes and lanes, bus priority systems, pedestrian enhancements, streetscape environment, traffic calming measures, green infrastructure, public art, and placemaking.
