Vulnerability Assessment and Climate Action and Adaptation Plan

BSC led a multi-firm team to develop a regional climate vulnerability assessment, greenhouse gas inventory, and climate action and adaptation plan for Bangor, Orono, and nine surrounding communities. The assessment examined climate impacts and vulnerabilities across environmental systems, infrastructure, and socioeconomic sectors. BSC conducted desktop data reviews, facilitated workshops, held key stakeholder interviews, and created a regional GIS data viewer to visualize vulnerabilities.

The climate action planning process included extensive stakeholder engagement with a multi-sectoral working group. This collaboration produced ten actionable strategies with accompanying implementation toolkits addressing housing, transportation, the environment, the local economy, and public health.

To support long-term adoption and visibility, the project also included a branding exercise that created a name, logo, and visual identity for the region’s climate action planning and future implementation.
