Sam Wright Field Wetland and Floodplain Restoration
BSC worked with the Town of Easton to restore wetlands and enhance flood resilience at Sam Wright Field, part of the Wheaton Farm Conservation Area. This 1,000-acre property lies within the Canoe River ACEC and plays a critical role in protecting water quality and managing stormwater.
The site included Mulberry Meadow Brook, which was impacted by aging culverts and historic farming practices that disrupted natural hydrology and degraded habitat.
BSC led a multi-disciplinary team to design and implement restoration strategies focused on:
- Expanding flood storage through site regrading
- Restoring natural wetland soils and stream flow
- Enhancing water quality and ecological function
By using a phased, adaptive approach, BSC helped the Town achieve measurable improvements in flood resilience and ecosystem health while preserving the historic landscape for public enjoyment.
