BSC Group proudly announces that Ricardo Austrich, ASLA, has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), one of the highest honors in the profession.
This national recognition honors landscape architects who have made exceptional contributions to the field through their leadership, service, knowledge, and body of work. Ricardo is one of just 50 individuals elected to the 2025 Class of ASLA Fellows.

With 36 years of experience, Ricardo leads BSC's landscape architecture practice with distinction. His design leadership spans a wide array of projects, from parks and greenways to contemplative landscapes and civic spaces, emphasizing equity, sustainability, and design excellence. Ricardo’s plant-centered design approach reflects a deep understanding of ecological performance and aesthetic impact, especially in complex urban and community environments.
Transforming Public Spaces Across the Northeast and Beyond
Ricardo's diverse project portfolio showcases a legacy of transformative design across New England and beyond. Notable projects include the Clifford Park Renovation in Boston, the Mountain View Cemetery Expansion in Shrewsbury, MA, and Bushnell Gardens in Hartford, CT. He also led the celebrated Asa Gray Garden project at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA, and the Harbor Towers Ground Plane Renovation along Boston’s Rose Kennedy Greenway.
Additional highlights include the Mount Hope Cemetery Master Plan in Rochester, NY, and the Lakewood Cemetery Master Plan in Minneapolis, MN. He played key roles in the Hancock Cemetery Master Plan, the Hancock Adams Green initiative, and the Thea and James Stoneman Centennial Park at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
His leadership in green infrastructure is evident in high-profile projects like the Arboretum Road Green Link in Roslindale and the DCR Edgewater Greenway in Mattapan - both designed to improve climate resilience and enhance community connectivity.
Ricardo’s professional leadership includes serving as President of the Boston Society of Landscape Architects (2018–2020) and representing the design community on the City of Boston’s Zoning Commission, where he champions inclusive and walkable green neighborhoods. His published work spans topics from cemetery design to sustainable public space planning, reinforcing his voice as a thought leader in the profession.
His distinguished recognition by ASLA honors Ricardo’s lifelong commitment to advancing the field of landscape architecture and his deep impact on communities, policy, and practice.
