Mountain View / Prospect Park Cemetery Master Plan

BSC led the master planning and design of the 19-acre Mountain View Cemetery Expansion, transforming recommendations from the Town of Shrewsbury’s 70-acre Prospect Park Master Plan into a long-term solution for the community’s burial needs. The plan balances cemetery expansion with the preservation of the former Whittall Estate’s natural, historic, and recreational character, creating a park-like landscape inspired by the tradition of rural cemeteries.

The expansion accommodates traditional, cremation, and green burial options while reflecting the cultural needs of Shrewsbury’s growing and diverse population, including dedicated areas for the South Asian community. By preserving passive recreation and sensitive environmental resources, the project delivers a sustainable, phased approach that meets the Town’s long-term burial needs while enhancing a valued public open space.
