BSC Celebrates National Surveyors Week

BSC is celebrating National Surveyors Week, observed from March 19 to March 25 and created in 1984 by the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping to recognize surveyors and educate the public on their vital contributions to society. BSC will be showcasing our team of surveyors and the technology behind their work throughout the week. Pictured below is our survey and GIS team receiving offsite training earlier this month. The program included hands-on training on instrument adjustments and calibrations, presentations on field mapping and reconnaissance support, and records research and boundary decision-making.

This past weekend, BSC surveyors donated their time to participate in the GPS on BenchMarks program being run by NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration. The teams recovered and measured three geodetic benchmarks. The measurements will help improve the accuracy of the new National Spatial Reference System, particularly in Little Compton and Tiverton, Rhode Island, and Holden, Massachusetts.
