BSC Group’s board of directors has appointed Charles Kalauskas, PE to the role of chief executive officer, a newly-created position in the firm. Promoted from his former role as executive vice president, Charlie will take responsibility for company-wide operations, including the firm’s engineering, planning, ecological science, landscape architecture, and land surveying divisions.
Charlie has more than 40 years of experience in the engineering industry with more than 27 years spent with BSC Group. A graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute and the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Charlie has led BSC’s transportation department for several years. In this capacity he has directed numerous projects for Massachusetts state agencies, such as MassHighway, the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, Massport, and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. Charlie has also been active in numerous industry associations such as the American Council of Engineering Companies and professional societies, including a term as president of the Boston Society of Civil Engineers section of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
“This new position will highlight Charlie’s strengths: commitment to client service, strategic planning abilities, and mentorship of BSC’s design team. This is a natural evolution of Charlie’s career and an opportunity to expand his leadership role,” said Richard Long, president of BSC Companies.
Richard will also assume the role of chairman as he transitions operation group leadership to Charlie. As chairman of the board and president, Richard will continue to focus on strategic initiatives and management of corporate functions, including finance and information technology.
