Building Resilient Open Spaces for Massachusetts Communities
Across Massachusetts, communities use Open Space and Recreation Plans (OSRPs) to thoughtfully steward open spaces, expand recreation opportunities, protect critical habitat and water supply lands, advance climate resilience, improve public health, and prioritize equitable access to green space.
BSC Group works with municipalities to develop updated OSRPs – clear, 10-year action plans in accordance with the updated 2025 OSRP guidelines. These plans establish open space, conservation, and recreation goals and outline the actions needed to achieve them. An approved OSRP is required for communities to be eligible for state grants to acquire, protect, improve, and maintain parks, playgrounds, and other open spaces.
Our multidisciplinary team integrates community engagement, GIS mapping, and climate vulnerability analysis to help communities translate priorities into feasible, fundable action plans.
