BSC Group is pleased to welcome Misma Smith, EIT to the firm as a Bridge and Structural Designer.
Misma brings more than four years of experience with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), with a focus on bridge inspection, bridge load ratings, and overload analysis. Her background supports BSC's infrastructure services through data-driven analysis, technical coordination, and practical problem-solving on complex transportation and structural engineering projects.
At MassDOT, Misma contributed to multidisciplinary initiatives such as statewide vehicular load studies, the development of standardized analytical procedures, and the creation of an alternative method for overload analysis. Her work reflects a strong balance of technical rigor and engineering judgment in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
Misma holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with academic experience in São Paulo, Brazil (Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas) and in the United States at UMass Lowell. She is an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and is bridge inspection certified, bringing an international perspective and specialized credentials to BSC Group’s bridge engineering and structural engineering teams.

Outside of work, Misma is committed to service and continuous learning. She has volunteered with community organizations such as Cradles to Crayons, read 129 books in the past year, studies multiple languages (Portuguese, English, Spanish, basic French, and currently Italian), and enjoys traveling to experience new cultures.
